Когда команды рассматривают fabric quotations, разговор часто становится слишком простым: “можно ли дешевле?” Проблема в том, что цифра в quote редко отражает всю sourcing cost.

Fabric cost обычно нужно читать как цепочку минимум из трех участков: yarn, knitting и dyeing/finishing. Когда они sourced separately, процесс кажется гибким, но total cost часто растет из-за friction.

Fabric cost — это chain, а не один price tag

В practical knit sourcing структура обычно такая:

  • yarn задает base cost range;

  • knitting определяет structure и stability;

  • dyeing/finishing определяет color, handfeel, shrinkage и final appearance. Если buyer отслеживает только final price per meter, исчезают:

  • repeated communication;

  • waiting и transfer cost between stages;

  • rework из-за process misalignment;

  • planning inefficiency из-за слабого handoff. Эти costs реальны, даже если не показаны отдельно.

Yarn cost часто недооценивают

Yarn влияет не только на raw material price. Yarn count меняет handfeel и construction behavior; cotton/polyester/nylon/blends меняют dye route и finishing sensitivity; unstable yarn quality передает barre, hairiness или shade risk дальше.

Более дешевый yarn не всегда делает finished fabric дешевле. Он может просто перенести cost и risk downstream.

Knitting cost — не только machine time

Knitting определяет, стабильна ли structure, подходит ли density и реалистична ли production efficiency. Проекты дорожают, когда machine gauge mismatched, construction слишком sensitive, setup/changeover слишком частые или actual speed ниже ожиданий.

Если это игнорировать early, позже возникает unexplained price pressure.

Dyeing и finishing несут самый большой hidden cost

Final fabric часто выигрывает или проигрывает в dyeing/finishing. Там формируются color, touch, shrinkage, colorfastness и surface appearance.

Hidden costs:

  • sample и bulk не совпадают;
  • shade repeatedly corrected;
  • finishing слишком heavy или light;
  • weight/width drift;
  • wash performance не совпадает с expectation. Когда yarn и knitting information плохо synchronized, dyeing часто становится correction stage для earlier mistakes.

Почему separate sourcing дорожает

Separate sourcing выглядит как больше price competition, но часто создает:

  1. risk premium на каждом этапе;
  2. защиту scope каждого участника вместо full fabric result;
  3. искажение информации между suppliers;
  4. проблему на одном этапе, которая ломает planning везде. Проект может иметь acceptable pricing на каждом step и все равно higher total cost.

Integrated coordination экономит loss, не только unit price

Integrated sourcing не всегда означает все процессы в одной factory. Важнее, чтобы yarn, knitting и dyeing работали к одной target с synchronized information.

Практическая ценность:

  • меньше repeated explanation;
  • раннее alignment между yarn choice, structure и dye route;
  • проще joint scheduling;
  • быстрее root-cause identification;
  • быстрее correction. Самая большая saving часто приходит от lower loss across the project.

Как проверить, real ли integration

Спросите:

  • who defines the yarn route;
  • как knitting и dyeing share standards;
  • кто отвечает, если final fabric misses target;
  • как repeat orders locked by version and process. Если нет ясных ответов, integration claim может быть sales language.

Когда integrated sourcing важнее

Он особенно ценен при:

  • строгих color и handfeel requirements;
  • repeat programs;
  • fast development cycles;
  • tight control shrinkage, weight, surface stability. Это ситуации, где hidden cost растет быстрее всего.

Cost reduction — не только pushing price

Более здоровая cost reduction приходит от less repeated development, fewer cross-stage errors, less rework и fewer planning breaks. Если эти losses снижены, total sourcing cost улучшается устойчивее.

Более полезная sourcing lens

Mature sourcing сравнивает:

  1. base structure cost;
  2. coordination cost of the supply chain;
  3. correction ability supplier;
  4. repeat-order stability route. Тогда integrated yarn-knitting-dyeing planning становится практичным cost control tool.
